The Road to Recovery

Dear Friends, as you may know, Palm Island Resort & Spa suffered serious damage as a result of Hurricane Beryl. We regret to inform you that Palm Island will be closed for an extended period of time to assess the damage and begin the rebuilding process.

Of much greater urgency is the utter devastation of nearby Union Island.

Palm Island immediately began emergency relief efforts, and we are filling containers with lumber, plywood, nails, tools, tarps, first aid, food, blankets and other desperately needed supplies.

Thanks to your funds and the help of the Palm Island owners we are currently putting a priority on fixing staff member’s homes who owned and lived in their own home in Union. Following this, we will start to assist those who lived in a family member’s home in Union and finally assist those who were renting in Union Island.

The special place we have all fallen in love with has broken our hearts. But with each day we clear and clean we see a piece of its beauty being restored. Our focus continues to be providing work for people in Union during our clean up phase and helping them restore their lives.

Thank you for helping us to give hope that everything will be alright eventually. We are working hard to help provide a clean water source for the people of Union and to help provide hot meals. Electricity is suspected to be out for months ahead. It’s a long road to recovery and we will be putting in place long term plans once immediate needs are met. Thank you to all of you for the tremendous support as well as @big_gamelodge_sportfishing_tt for making our first supply trip and @roofsystemsltd for organizing logistics and packing for this initial trip.
